Booking your photography session is simple and hassle-free. We strive to make the booking process and photography experience smooth and personalized, ensuring that your photography experience exceeds your expectations from start to finish.
How do I schedule a session?
Well, you can email us, but we like to talk to you, so please call the studio at 308.534.7909. We understand about jobs, kids’ activities, and family out of town, so we will work with you to find a convenient time for everyone. Most sessions take about an hour. High School seniors or large extended families take longer. Toddlers or young children work faster because they have a short attention span.
What happens next?
About a week later, we have you come in for a viewing and ordering session. People love seeing their portraits projected to the actual size they will hang on their walls. Keith is great at helping you make side-by-side comparisons and figuring out ways to get the best value for your investment. Once you place your order, it takes about two weeks for your portraits to be completed. If you have family coming in from out of town for a limited time, we can make your viewing appointment the same day. Just let us know when you are booking so we can schedule adequate time.
What does it cost?
Session fees vary depending on the subject and the size of the group but range from $79 to $169. We have packages available or ala carte options. There is no minimum order. It’s our job to create something wonderful that you want to purchase. That being said, we have clients that spend a few hundred dollars, and we’ve had clients spend many thousand dollars. We help you find a way to get what you want and need within your budget.
When do I have to pay for this?
The session fee is due the day of the session. A deposit of 50% of your total is due at the time of your view/order appointment. The balance is due when you pick up your order. OR we will gladly set up a payment plan for anyone wishing to break their payments into smaller increments.
Can I get the files?
The simple answer is yes, you can purchase files. However, we don’t recommend it. Our job is to provide beautifully finished and framed portraits ready to hang in your home. Digital files are like giving you the ingredients but not the finished product. Most people want to do so for one of two reasons. First, they believe it will be less investment to buy the files. This is not always correct because when you purchase files, find a place to order archival prints, place the order, and pay for framing, it’s not a cheaper option. Second, people want their images for the future. We archive everything. Routinely we have clients come in to order prints from 10, 20, 30, or more years ago. We’ve had clients lose all their portraits in floods or house fires, and we have their negatives or files available to replace everything. Lastly, if you want every image, we can purchase a print of each image, which is way more economical than buying the files.
What should we wear?
We can tell you what photographs are best for portraits. Just ask if you have questions. Great clothing choices add to great portraits, but we would much rather you wear whatever you have and make it happen. If having the “right” clothing is what is holding you back from having portraits, please don’t let that be an issue. Basically, we suggest solid colors. If there is more than one person in the portrait, aim for the same intensity of color. Don’t all have to be the same color; just don’t mix dark and light hues.
I don’t like my smile, my weight, my nose, or wrinkles….
Everybody has something they don’t like about themselves. Most people say they hate themselves in photos because they are used to cell phone snapshots. First off, cell phones have wide-angle lenses, so you get lots of distortion. Your mom doesn't know how to pose or light you to make you look your best. And your friend has no experience catching a smile at the right moment. The wrong pose will make you look heavier. The wrong lens will make your nose look bigger. The wrong lighting will broaden your face and pop out every wrinkle. The difference between a professional and a snapshot is the professional knows how to use every variable to your favor. So relax. We know what we are doing.
